An Evening of Burlesque

“....full of glitz, glam and wonder

The Adelphi theatre was taken over for 1 night only by an amazing troupe of cabaret performers for ‘An Evening of Burlesque’. This collection of performers have been taken from all over the world to create this wonderful show. It’s full of glitz, glam and wonder which makes for an enjoyable evening out!

Our host for the evening is Ivy Paige, an international showgirl with an incredible singing voice. Ivy is the perfect compere with a talent for audience interaction and making hilarious quips throughout the night. She is often joined by her Showgirls who treat us to some outstanding dance routines. Ivy’s collection of dresses is also to die for!

Our first burlesque performer of the evening is Belle De Beauvoir performing her ‘Sparkling Diamonds’ act in an extravagant showgirl outfit with plumes of feathers and luxurious jewels adorning her costume. Belle is clearly a seasoned performer and has the perfect vintage style for her routines throughout the evening.

We are also treated to some ‘Boy-lesque’ and a fire routine in the second half from Sebastian Angelique. Sebastian brings a high energy to the stage as well as tremendous talent with an element of danger in their ‘God of Fire’ routine. A wonderful costume with a surprise really enhances this routine.

Christian Lee is a well renowned magician who has previously featured on Britain’s Got Talent with his act. Christian uses an unsuspecting audience member in his routine and has a perfect mix of comedy and wonder when performing.

Darren Charles brings us his character of Saucy Davis Jr a singer with a voice as smooth as silk and charm that draws you in. His duet of Fever with Ivy Paige is a particular highlight of the evening.

Velvet Jones performed 2 wonderful acts for us, the first a beautifully colourful feather fan act which was a delight for all the senses. The second was a reverse strip-tease which was a very clever piece to show off a different way of performing this traditional art form.

There is also some circus in this presentation with Matt Pang performing an escapology routine with the assistance of some willing audience members. Matt does wonderfully at building the tension during his time on stage and has the audience fully behind him the entire time.

The headline act of the night comes in the form of Isabella Bliss, a stunning performer who entrances the audience with her act. Showing off the true art form of burlesque with a Champagne Showgirl routine which is beautiful to watch.

This show is a must see for any fans of a classic cabaret, it’s got it all and promises a fantastic fun filled night out at the theatre!

This show was reviewed on the 10th October at the Adelphi Theatre.  An Evening of Burlesque continues touring the country.  Tickets available here: An Evening of Burlesque - Entertainers
